RAK'd by Tammy

I received this beautiful card in the mail yesterday from Tammy Fite. I LOVE this color combination, it is one of my favorites!!! Visit Tammy's blog - Stamp with Tammy, I was soooo impressed with Tammy's blog, she has so many beautiful ideas to share. Thanks Tammy, you made my day!!!

3 challenges in 1

This week's 'Be Inspired Challenge' piece is this dress by J.C. Crew. I decided the colors and the scallops in this dress were going to be my starting point. When I started this card I never thought I would be combining three challenges, but that is exactly what happened!

I couldn't believe it when I pulled out my scrap stash and found everything I needed to complete this card (Go Green Challenge). Talk about easy peasy! I also used Beate's weekend sketch challenge #49.

Exciting News for me!!!!

This weekend has been BUSY!!!! We spent the whole weekend doing yard work and projects around the house. No time for stamping **Sad face**. While trying to keep caught up on what's going on in blogland and SCS I received a very exciting PM from Becky aka: (beccabatgirl) inviting me to join the Great Swaps Girls 2 group. **BIG GRIN** Well of course I was sooo honored to be asked to join this group, it took me about 2 seconds to think over my answer!!! YES, YES, YES, I'd love to be a part of this group, who wouldn't, right?

I can't wait to start swapping with these very talented stampers!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope everyone had a very nice holiday weekend.

Go Green Challenge - #2

I'm a day late with this week's go green challenge, but it's better to be late than never right? This week I dug out a pre-stamped image of one of my favorite retired stamp sets 'Sassy Stems'. This was a quick card to complete as I only had to watercolor the image, stamp the polka dots on a scrap of Tempting Turquoise, stamp and punch out the saying and add a few brads.

Let's see what you can create with the scraps that you have just laying around. Remember, don't cut into anything new if you don't have too!!!

Upload your creation to SCS using the keyword GGC1, That way we can all see your creative ideas.

Go Green Challenge #1

It's May already, where does the time go? Last night I was sitting at my desk looking for ideas to stamp when I came across my stash of already stamped images and punch outs (see picture below). Now every once and awhile I will pull something out of here, but most of the time I am putting something in it instead. As I was going though some of the stash I got to thinking about a blog post that I came across last week by Susan Roberts . Susan challenged herself to use up some of her scraps that she had been collecting for the past two years. Click on the link to check out the awesome cards that Susan made with her scraps.

For the past year I have been participating in many challenges that others have been putting out there and thinking to myself, what kind of a challenge could I put out there? If your like me, I'm sure you have a few scraps laying around just waiting to be used up. So with that being said, and Susan's inspiration I decided to do my own 'Go Green Challenge'.

This is the card I came up with using some of those scraps in the picture above. I also decided to use this week's SCS sketch challenge as my starting point. The only thing that did not come out of my scrap box was the 8x8 piece of Bordering Blue CS. I even gave the ugly copper brads that I hate and never use, a new look by turning them into brown brads to match my color scheme. Here is how I did that: With a needle nose pliers grasp onto the brad feet and heat the top (head) with your heat gun for about 30-45 seconds so it it really hot. Then quickly dip the brad into colored embossing powder and gently tap of any excess powder. Heat brad again (about 5 seconds) to melt the powder onto the brad but DO NOT OVER HEAT. Let cool for about 30 seconds while still clamped in needle nose before setting down. There you go! Any color brad any time!

Are you ready to take on my 'Go Green Challenge' ?

Here is the challenge: Go to your scrap drawer, file, bin or wherever you keep your scraps and start pulling some of them out. You can use as many scraps as you like for your card or project, but use them first before you cut into anything new!

Have fun, I can't wait to see what you turn your scraps into!

To participate in the challenge and be entered in a drawing, make a card using your scraps and upload it either to your blog, or to an online gallery.
Post a link to your card to this blog entry as a comment. Please add your entry# to it. I will draw a winner on Tuesday at 9:00am.

If you upload your card to your splitcoast gallery, don’t forget to add - GGC1 in the keyword section. That way we can all look at them at once.
